The Division Office is in Building 71. ATAP R&D programs in the 71 Complex include the Berkeley Lab Laser Accelerator Center (BELLA), the Accelerator Modeling Program (AMP), and the Berkeley Accelerator Controls and Instrumentation Program (BACI).

Here are instructions on getting to Berkeley Lab by car or by the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train. BART is a convenient, inexpensive way to get to the LBNL shuttle-bus stop downtown, and to the Hotel Shattuck Plaza (popular with LBNL visitors), from either of the area’s major airports: SFO and OAK.
Administrative Aspects of Your Visit
Site access has to be prearranged. In general, the employee who is hosting you, or one of our administrators, will make arrangements and provide you with detailed information.
Most visitors (people staying for less than a week or so, for purposes other than hands-on technical work) will be sent a site-access pass entitling them to park onsite or to board the shuttle bus. Bring the pass and government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport each day.
People who will be working with us longer, or in a laboratory, will usually get affiliate status, which carries with it some requirements for safety training. Affiliates receive a badge. The host or administrator will determine and communicate the requirements.
Although weather here in the East Bay tends to be both warmer and less capricious than that of San Francisco, locals master the art of “layering” and take the forecast to be merely the centroid of a seasonal parameter space.
The view from the University of California’s Lawrence Hall of Science. This museum is ATAP’s back-fence neighbor, just up the hill from Building 71. You are looking toward the Golden Gate Bridge, with San Francisco to the left and Berkeley in the foreground. Click here for their full webcam page, including live data from their weather station.
