Fusion energy could one day provide abundant power, but the machines that produce it are complex and difficult to operate. This project, led by Realta Fusion in collaboration with researchers from Berkeley Lab and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will develop smart software to create a fast, virtual replica of a fusion reactor heating system (Neutral Beam Injection). By learning from both experiments and detailed computer simulations, the software will help operators make better decisions in near-real time, enabling faster, more reliable machine tuning. The result: faster progress toward practical fusion.
