The event recognizes and honors the contributions of Hispanic and Latin Americans to our nation’s cultural and economic success. The month begins on the 15th to coincide with several nations’ national independence celebrations, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico celebrates its independence on September 16.

To celebrate the event, the Lab raised a banner on Monday, September 16, 2024, in front of building 65A at the site’s main entrance. It was one of several events during the month that focused on appreciating our colleagues of Latin American heritage and their contributions to advancing and supporting science.
