Last November, as part of Berkeley Lab’s K-12 High School STEM Days initiative, Formenti spoke to students about how researchers at ATAP are using artificial intelligence to advance science and make new discoveries. The talk provided insights into how these AI tools, which go beyond the AI students are used to, support progress in scientific research.

“The Lab benefits from these activities because they build the future workforce,” she said. “With this event, the younger generations can see how science is done and that it’s built on solid grounds.”

For her contributions to the K-12 STEM programs, Formenti received the Teaching Scholars Recognition.

“Thank you for your invaluable contributions to the K-12 STEM Education programs at Berkeley Lab,” said Faith Dukes, director of STEM Education and K12 Programs. “We truly appreciate the time and effort you dedicate while balancing your scientific work, career development, and personal responsibilities. Our programs would not be as successful without your support.”
