In celebration of June as National Safety Month, ATAP, including matrixed Engineering staff, will hold our Multi-Lab Safety Week June 11-13, 2024. Based on participant feedback, we have changed from a week to a 3-day format. Please save these dates on your calendars to minimize conflicts with Safety Week activities.
Last year’s Multi-Lab Safety Week was a resounding success, so this year, we will once again have a joint Multi-Lab activity with the Magnet Division and ACORN (Accelerator Controls Operations Research Network) Project at Fermilab and the Magnet Division at Brookhaven National Laboratory joining ATAP. We expect other divisions at Berkeley Lab will also join this annual event.
Safety Week has become a successful tradition in ATAP. This year, our theme is Back to Basics, emphasizing Integrated Safety Management (ISM) and how it can be optimized by implementing Human Performance Improvement principles. Multi-Lab Safety Week will be an all-hands, all-hazards event with ongoing learning and education opportunities. During this 3-day event, ATAP Programs will set aside times that work best for them to participate in specific safety activities. We will be focusing on:
On-going learning and education:
- Utilize the time to complete WPC training
- Attend safety-themed seminars as part of ongoing learning and education
Housekeeping:
- Workplace cleanups and self-assessments
- Conduct management walkthroughs and have peers review labs, shops, and offices
Plans will be coordinated with Program Heads and Program Safety Coordinators. (With the Division Director’s approval, programs with significant, unavoidable project schedule conflicts may choose to conduct some activities before the designated Safety Week). Detailed instructions will be communicated in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, please be prepared to participate in this highly beneficial investment in safety.
We look forward to seeing you there!
