The Lunar New Year is a time of celebration for many nations and cultures across East and South East Asia as they celebrate the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar. The Chinese Year of the Dragon was welcomed on February 10, 2024, with two weeks of community events. More information can be viewed at Berkeley Lab’s Global Employee Resource Group. Notable events held by the Lab included:
- February 8, 2024: A virtual talk about the traditions and symbolic foods that enrich the celebration of the Lunar New Year throughout various Asian cultures at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. The event was organized by the Lab’s Asian Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group.
- February 16, 2024: Lunar New Year celebrations at the Advanced Light Source Administrative Building.
