Thorsten Hellert

Thorsten Hellert is a research scientist in the Accelerator Technology and Applied Physics Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and member of the Accelerator Physics Group at ALS. His work combines accelerator physics with deep learning methods for accelerator optimization and control. Thorsten has been working on 4th Generation Light Source projects such as ALS-U and PETRA-IV, where he developed tools for beam dynamics optimization and commissioning simulations. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from DESY and Universität Hamburg, with expertise in transverse particle dynamics in Free Electron Lasers.
