Wei Liu

Wei Liu is a Project Scientist in the Accelerator Technology and Applied Physics (ATAP) Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research areas include MeV ultrafast electron diffraction, Petawatt laser-ion acceleration, and semiconductor spin-photon qubits. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from EPFL in Switzerland, where he specialized in ultrafast electron microscopy and laser spectroscopy with a focus on semiconductor dynamics. Following his Ph.D., he pursued postdoctoral research as a Swiss NSF Fellow at UCLA, working on quantum photonics, and later conducted research at Berkeley Lab’s ATAP division, focusing on engineering semiconductor quantum defects using accelerator technology.
